Marian Catholic girls basketball player Kaila Turner orally committed to coach Muffet McGraw and Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon.

Her dad, Danny, said Kaila visited Notre Dame and told McGraw in person of her choice at about 2 p.m. region time.

Turner, a senior-to-be, will sign with the Fighting Irish in November. The 5-foot-7 guard is considered one of the best players in Illinois. She had offers from several schools.

The 2008 Times Illinois Girls Basketball Player of the Year averaged 13.4 points, 4.2 assists, 3.7 steals and 2.3 rebounds per game. She has been a starter since her freshman year.
