DYER | The Town Council must trim a small part of its proposed annexation map and will consider whether to trim more of it when it meets Wednesday night.

Dyer and Schererville officials met last week to discuss Sections 19 and 20 in Dyer's proposed annexation map, Dyer Town Manager Joe Neeb said Monday. Both sections are contiguous to the town of Schererville.

A tiny square area in the northeast corner of Section 19, directly to the west of parcels designated as Tara and Saratoga and just south of the Dyer town line, previously was annexed by Schererville. County maps did not show the area is in the Schererville boundary.

Because the area is part of Schererville, Dyer cannot legally annex it.

Areas in Section 20, which are north of 77th Avenue and east of the CSX railroad tracks, and are part of the Schererville utility district and have Schererville addresses.

Dyer Town Council members will decide Wednesday whether to pare areas in Section 20 from the annexation map.

The first of three informal public meetings on annexation will be held prior to the council meeting Wednesday. The annexation session, scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m., will provide information regarding the Schererville properties and address other annexation issues, Neeb said.
