HIGHLAND | Those who have had a death in their family may struggle with the upcoming holidays. A new program sponsored by Wounded Healers Grief Support will focus on this grief.

The community program titled The Holidays are Coming! (But what about my grief?) will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. James Hall, 9640 Kennedy Ave. in Highland.

"For nearly 20 years the Wounded Healers Grief Support program has been helping the folks in our communities through their grieving times by providing information and companionship at a time when it's most needed," said Pat Kish, the founder and director of the group, in a news release. When the group was asked to present a program to help with the holidays this new concept was developed, she said. "We believe this new program will touch the minds and hearts of those attending. We hope and pray that those who come will leave with a better understanding of the grieving process, and a little more peace and comfort in their hearts, especially regarding the coming holidays."

Each type of loss will be accommodated in small groups to better manage individual needs. Losses include the death of a spouse, death of a parent, friend or sibling, death of a child or grandchild and those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Trained volunteers will help these groups, with the main topic being the holidays and what they represent.

Refreshments will be available. Homemade cookies will be provided by the Zeta Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority.

Reservations are requested. For information or reservations, call (219) 924-5577.
