MOMS TO PARTY | Cedar Lake

Due to inclement weather on the original date, MOMS Club of Cedar Lake/Lowell has rescheduled its third anniversary open house for 10 a.m. March 7 at the Lake County Public Library's Cedar Lake branch, 10010 W. 133rd Ave. All moms and children are welcome. A brief business meeting will be followed by snacks, games, and crafts for the children. MOMS Club is a nonprofit support group for stay-at-home moms and their children. Founded in February, 2005, the Cedar Lake/Lowell chapter supports nearly 30 women and 50 children in Cedar Lake, Hanover Township, Lowell and Lake Dalecarlia. HAM & BEANS | Schererville

COED VOLLEYBALL | Lowell

Lowell Parks and Recreation Department offers adult coed volleyball sessions for ages 18 and older at two new sites with two courts available.. Come out from 7 to 9 p.m. March 7, April 11, 18 and 25 at Lake Prairie Elementary School, 11601 W. 181st Ave., and from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. March 14 and April 4 at Oak Hill Elementary School, 425 S. Nichols St. Donation is $2 a session for development of Freedom Park.

PARENTING SEMINAR | St. John

Dr. Ray Guarendi, who's been on "Oprah" and can be heard daily on Relevant Radio, will be the featured speaker at a parenting seminar at 7 p.m. March 16 at St. John the Evangelist School gym, U.S. 41 and 93rd Avenue. Dispel the Myths of Discipline offers dozens of practical ideas for dealing with children more calmly and easily. Guarendi is a father of 10, clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and radio host. A question-and-answer is planned after the presentation. SPRING BINGO | Crown Point

Crown Point Lions Club will host its annual Spring Bingo Night at 7 p.m. March 6 in the 4-H Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 and extra cards will be available for those who bring eyeglasses or hearing aids to donate. Prizes will be hams. Door prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be available for purchase. No carry-in food or beverages allowed. Proceeds benefit community program, including Meals on Wheels, CP Civil Defense, Crown Point Community Library, Cedar Lake Boys & Girls Club and Easter baskets for the needy.

MEXICAN BREAKFAST | E.C.

Sociedad Cultural Civica La Reforma offers a Mexican breakfast fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 9 at Heritage Hall, 4506 Tod Ave. The donation is $5. Breakfast includes huevos con chorizo (eggs with Mexican sausage), chilaguiles, huevos revueltos (scrambled eggs), frijoles refritos (refried beans), cafe and jugo de naranja (orange juice). A Mexican bread sale also will take place.

SPAGHETTI & GAMES | Crown Point

First District American Legion Las Vegas Night and Reverse Raffle will be held at 7 p.m. March 8 at Fred Schmidt American Legion Post 20, 1401 N. Main St. Doors open at 5 p.m. for an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner that will be served until 7 p.m. Menu includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and coffee for $4. Admission to the casino is free for blackjack, dice games, poker and wheel games. Raffle tickets are available for $25, with a $5,000 grand prize. Cash bar will be available. Proceeds benefit veterans, their children and the community.

Let' Talk About the Walk meeting will take place at 9 a.m. March 11 at Holy Family Hall Franciscan Community Services, 205 Franciscan Drive. The session will focus on the May 10 walk for Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana. Participants will learn fundraising strategies for individuals and teams. HOME AND GARDEN SHOW | Hammond

The Hammond Parks and Recreation Department announces its first Hammond home and garden show. It's set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 J.F. Mahoney Drive. Booths are available to promote businesses specializing in products and services geared toward home and garden. The application deadline is March 7.

"Premonition" is the title of the Senior Movie Matinee at 2 p.m. March 6 at the DeMotte Library, 901 Birch St. SW. Staring Sandra Bullock and Julian McMahon, this PG-13 rated film finds the main characters in a daily drama when Linda Hanson awakens to find that her husband has been killed in a car accident, only to awaken the next day to find him safe and sound. GARDEN SHOW TRIP | Munster

Munster Parks and Recreation Department offers a trip from 8:15 to 4:15 p.m. March 11 to the Chicagoland Flower & Garden Show in Rosemont, Ill. This year's show will include theme gardens, a live remote from WGN radio, seminars by master gardeners, culinary demonstrations, a teaching garden, a photo garden and well as exhibitors. Trip includes admission and motorcoach transportation. The fee is $32 for residents, $37 for nonresidents and $30 for Keen-Ager members. Sign up at Town Hall, 1005 Ridge Road.
