CHESTERTON | Back in the job market after 34 years, Portage resident Angie Moreno explored possibilities Thursday at the Community Career Fair at Chesterton High School.

"There's a good variety here," Moreno said of the career fair. "I wanted to see what's out there."

Moreno was one of more than 270 job seekers to visit the some 80 businesses.

This year's career fair, the latest in a string of six at the high school, attracted "serious job seekers," Jane Delligatti, president of the Chesterton Duneland Chamber of Commerce, a co-sponsor of the event, along with The Times.

"The people are better prepared and more dressed for success," Delligatti said.

The job fair originally had been targeted to high schoolers only but in recent years was opened to the community, said Deeann Witek, Chesterton High School career center director.

"We felt we were filling a need," Witek said. See story in bizNews, E1
