CROWN POINT | Crown Point administrators announced a program enabling one lucky student to win a brand new car, provided they maintain a college and career plan, citizenship, courage and other outstanding habits throughout the school year.

Administrators said Tuesday they, in cooperation with two local car dealers, would give away a 2009 Chevy Cobalt to a student who demonstrates the positive values and commitments of the school community during the school year.

The program revolves around Crown Point High School's Portrait of a Graduate, developed by Principal Eric Ban. The portrait was developed to reflect the values and commitments to the school community.

The giveaway is being made possible through the cooperation of the high school, Carroll Chevrolet & Art Hill Ford Lincoln Mercury Mazda which will provide the new car to the student who wins the positive rewards initiative.

Representatives from Carroll Chevrolet and Art Hill Ford will introduce the 2009 Chevy Cobalt to high school students in an all-school assembly Wednesday on the first day of school, beginning at approximately 10 a.m. in the football stadium.

The way a student wins is by accumulating tickets throughout the school year for representing the positive attributes outlined in the Portrait of a Graduate. A drawing will be held at the end of the school year to name the winner.

The car will remain parked outside the school's entrance for students to see as they enter and exit the building.
