CLUB TEEN | Hobart

Members of the Teen Volunteer Crew have a day dedicated strictly to them at the Lake County Public Library's Hobart branch, 100 N. Main St. On select Fridays throughout the summer, including 2 to 4 p.m. June 20, members can relax by playing video games, watch movies, craft, snack, and help plan new programs and events. As a bonus, teens earn extra volunteer hours while having fun.

ART IN THE PARK | Crown Point

Crown Point Parks and Recreation Department offers Art in the Park, an art class for children 5 to 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, June 24 through Aug. 12 at Sauerman Woods Park, 1000 E. South St. Each week the young artists will be drawing, painting, cutting and/or pasting to develop their own works of art. All supplies are included. Fee is $5 per class for residents and $10 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is the Friday prior to each class.

TEEN GAMING | Wheatfield

Youths entering grades 5 to 12 are invited to a Gaming Program at 2 p.m. June 19 at the Wheatfield Library, 350 S. Bierma St. Play Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution and others. Registration is required online, in person or by phone.

LEGO CLUB | Crown Point

Crown Point Parks and Recreation Department offers the Born to Build Lego Club for children 7 to 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, June 24 through Aug. 6 (no class July 8) at the Crown Point Parks Office, 1313 E. North St. Participants will work in teams and individually to build several items using Lego building blocks. A contest will be held at the end of the program. All supplies are included. Fee is $40 for residents and $50 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is June 20.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP | Cedar Lake

Hanover Central High School is hosting a Co-Ed Volleyball Camp for youths entering grades 8 to 12 with coaches Ryan McNeil, head coach of the women's and the men's teams at New Jersey Institute of Technology, which made it to the EVIA post season play-offs, and J.R. Martins, and assistant coach at NJIT. The camp will be held June 23 through 26. Cost is $100 for the full-week session, which includes choice of a 9 a.m. to -noon or 1 to 4 p.m. session and 2 nightly breakout skill sessions that from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The competitive camp that includes all 8 daily sessions and three nightly breakout sessions costs $145, and the mini camp, either the three evening breakout sessions or a mixture of 3 sessions, costs $50. Camp will be held at HCHS, 10120 W. 133rd Ave. Registration is open now.

LATIN CAMP | Crown Point

Crown Point High School's Latin language program has extended the registration deadline until June 20 for its sixth annual Latin Summer enrichment program, to be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 7 to 11 at the high school, 1500 S. Main St. Registration forms are available at the high school and online at crownpoint.ijcl.org. The program is available to all students who have completed the grades 4, 5 and 6 at Crown Point Community School Corporation and other area elementary schools. A Master Class will also be offered to fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grade students who have previously attended the beginning Latin Summer program. Cost is $50.

BUGS IN THE NIGHT | Cedar Lake

All ages will explore the world of night creatures with stories and other activities at a Family Story Time at 6:30 p.m. June 23 at the Lake County Public Library's Cedar Lake branch, 10010 W. 133rd Ave. Make a creature to take home and special 'bugmallows' to eat.

JUNIOR LEAGUE | Cedar Lake

Lake County Parks and Recreation Department will host an eight-week Junior Golf League on Tuesdays, June 24 through Aug. 12, at Cedar Creek Family Golf Center, 10483 W. 109th Ave. Tee times begin at 10 a.m. This league is for golfers with a season of experience on the golf course only. Proper etiquette and knowledge of the game are required. Golfers must have their own clubs, balls and bring water bottles, sunscreen and insect repellent. This is a non-instructional, noncompetitive league. Cost is $100 for ages 10 to 17 and $75 for ages 5 to 9 (parents of younger group must stay on the property during the sessions. MAGIC SHOW | Jasper County

Magician Christopher Klocek will entertain members of the Catch the Reading Bug summer reading program at the Jasper County Public Libraries next week. The magic show will be presented for youths entering grades 1 to 6 at 10 a.m. June 24 at the Wheatfield Library, 350 S. Bierma St., for those entering kindergarten through grade 4 at 2 p.m. June 24 at the DeMotte Library, 901 Birch St. SW, and for preschoolers through grade 5 students at 10 a.m. June 25 at the Rensselaer Library, 208 W. Susan St.

DAY CAMP | Cedar Lake

Cedar Lake Parks and Recreation Department hosts a day camp program for ages 4 to 15 on various weeks throughout the summer at the Park of the Red Cedars, 7408 Constitution Ave. Ages 4 and 5 meet from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, today through June 20, June 23 to 27 and July 28 to Aug. 1; cost is $25 per week. Ages 6 to 10 meet from 9 a.m. to noon for $25 per week and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, today through June 20, June 23 to 27, July 7 to 11, July 14 to 18, July 21 to 25 and July 28 to Aug. 1, with optional field trips on for an additional $5 fee on Thursdays. Afternoon camp fee is $5 a day or $15 per week. Ages 11 to 15 meet as leaders for all six weeks, and there is no morning fee. Afternoon camp fee is $5 a day or $15 per week.

GROOVY MOVIES | Lake Station

Children 10 and older can attend movies chosen especially for them in a weekly series starting with tales from the Caribbean and the adventures of Captain Black, followed by the mystical series created by J. PRESCHOOL CAMP | Hobart

Registrations is open for an eight-week Preschool Summer Day Camp for ages 3 to 5 at Hobart Family YMCA, 601 W. 40th Place. The camp will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 24 through Aug. 14. This camp will continue to prepare children for preschool or kindergarten. and include games, learning centers, arts & crafts, gym time, music, cooking, snacks, free-play and swimming. As an extra bonus, children will be able to participate in Sports of all Sorts with Coach Jeff Renn. The YMCA will provide a beverage and a snack, and campers will bring a sack lunch each day. River Forest Community School Corporation is participating again this summer in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service Program for Children. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and meals are also available to adults at a cost of $1 for breakfast and $1.50 for lunch. GIRL TALK | Gary

The Ross family doctors of the Tatum Family Health Center welcome all young ladies 9 to 17 years old, with parental/guardian consent, to the monthly Girl Talk session 5 to 7 p.m. June 20 at 1619 W. Fifth Ave. Girl Talk is designed to help young ladies develop into healthy, mature and prosperous young women. Dr. Rachael Ross and Dr. Rebekkah Ross lead the sessions.
