Rebate offered on car repairs because of flood

Center Dodge Chrysler Jeep, in partnership with Goldie's Auto Body of Beecher, is offering a 10 percent rebate to anyone needing vehicle maintenance, body repair or replacement as a result of the recent flooding.

Here is how the program works: Flood victims should bring their insurance check to Center or Goldie's and they will give customers a rebate equal to 10 percent of the amount of the check if work is performed at the shop or if items are bought there.

"We wanted to be able to put cash back in the hands of these people," said Pal Goldrick, owner of Goldie's Auto Body. "Whatever they do with the rebate is their decision."

John Schultz, owner of Center, said the idea came about as a result of stories being told by employees of his dealership.

"We just thought that by giving money directly back to our customers allowed them to use it for many other things, like alternative living space, food, clothing and so forth."

Center is at 110090 W. 133rd Ave. in Cedar Lake; Goldie's is at 1369 Dutch American Way in Beecher.
