Organizers of the 12th annual Crisis Center Wine Tasting and Auction hope e-mail bids will boost the benefit's bottom line.

An e-mail silent auction is available through noon Friday for items that didn't receive minimum bids during the fundraiser at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton.

The Crisis Center serves as an outreach center for youths at risk and for their families throughout Northwest Indiana.

One of the items still up for bids is a Greek dinner for 12 in your home cooked by Lake County Convention and visitor's Bureau CEO Speros Batistatos. The minimum bid is $500.

Another unusual item is a one-hour concert by Harbor Lights, an a cappella quintet that has performed at the White House and with Chubby Checker. The group needs a 60-day notice and the performance must be within 45 or less from Merrillville. CDs will be sold at the event, and a fee of $250 will be charged if a sound system is needed. The minimum bid is $300.

Fans of Halloween can bid on seats for the Halloween pop concert with the Northwest Indiana Symphony. One person and a guest can sit with the costumed orchestra fort he second half of the program. The minimum bid is $200.

Other items are an oil painting of a maple seed, charcoal shell drawing, 12 pewter and wine goblets, an 18-inch, collectible Indian doll, and a figurine of a baby wrapped in angel wings.

Those with health on their mind can bid on a spinal, orthopedic and neurological evaluation, which includes any needed spinal x-rays.

Bids may be e-mailed to nwielgos@crisiscenterysb.org. List the item being bid on in the subject line and put the bid and contact information in the body of the e-mail.
