Sales expected next summer on Saturdays
Times Staff Report
DYER | Dyer's farmers market won't be open for business until next year, but the time will go quickly, Parks Director Mark Heintz said.
The Town Council recently granted permission for a farmers market to be held in the Town Hall parking lot. In the meantime, a committee continues to plan and organize the market, which should be held on Saturdays throughout the summer next year.
A farmers market "is a great idea, don't get me wrong," said Councilman Robert Rybicki, who was in the audience. But the feedback he's gotten from the community is that the Town Hall parking lot may not be big enough.
"What I keep hearing is, 'no, no, too small,'" he said.
Heintz said while he appreciates those concerns, Town Hall offers other advantages, such as ample parking and a high-profile location along U.S. 30.
