Aylesworth names its students of the month

Students selected as students of the month include Xavier Borom, Matt Chappell, Anna Dimov, Adam Dohmen, Emily Galka, Doug Greene, Noah Gutierrez, Isabelle Hammerstein, Marco Haro, Savannah Hefty, Stephen Jansen, Legacy Lopez, Hunter Martinko, Jasmine Moreno, Ashley Music, Evan Olson, Maryann Powell, Dylan Scheverman, Zoe Spencer, Brooke Spradlin, Aaron Stewart, Chanel Toney, Mason Wireman, Jacklynn Woynarowski, and Myles Wright.

Aylesworth also named its students of the month in the related arts. Those students demonstrate outstanding skill, life skills or talents particular to the field of art, music and physical education. Gavin Richardson received the honor for art. In music, kudos went to Jessica Goodwin. The student of the month for physical education was Jordan Olson.

Also this month, some Aylesworth students have artwork on display this at Portage Public Library, 2665 Irving St. Those students include Asia Davis, Abby Melton, Sasami Martin, Emily Galka, Jessica Rosario, Alexis Pennington, Isabella Storey, Tyler Hufford, Starrmarie Ortega, Colton Russell, Lyric Lopez, Kirstyn Pedro, Taylor Lindsay, Olivia Esquivel, Emily Hefty, Justin Zolkowski, Zack Stovall, Natalee Cizmadja, Evan Olson, Christy Conley, Marco Haro, Tony Tuley, Savannah Herron, Ahleynn Shear, Rebecca Borman, Cecillia Adams, Britney Dritlow, Aliyah Martinez, Kara Best, Marisol Barajas, Emily Thomsen, Brandon Lindsay, and Alyssa Shoppa.

Some Aylesworth students' work is on display at the Valparaiso University Chapel of the Resurrection as part of the Arts-A-Budding display of the best artwork produced by students in Porter County.

Those artists were feted in a reception held Sunday. Their work will remain on display through March 13. Aylesworth students whose work is exhibited include Kelly Carr, Asia Jones, Erin Lopez, Sabrina Webster, Alaina Lundy, Asia Davis, and Gavin Richardson.

Kindergarten Round-Up set

Kindergarten Round-Up in the Portage Township Schools will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and from 6 to 7 p.m. April 10 at each elementary school for children who will be 5 years old on or before April 1. Parents should bring a birth certificate; proof of immunizations, including a chicken pox vaccination; custody or guardianship papers, if applicable; and the child's social security number, if applicable.

Deadline looms for requesting teachers

Parents' requests for their children to have specific classroom teachers are due April 4 at Aylesworth. Forms are available in the school office, 5910 Central Ave. Requests must be backed by a sound educational reason in order to receive consideration.
