Police say alcohol is to blame in fatal accident
LaPorte area woman driving back to a Halloween party was killed in a violent single-vehicle crash police blame on alcohol consumption.
Kelly Pollnow, 24, of 4047 W. Anthony Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene of a massive skull fracture and broken neck, said LaPorte County Chief Deputy Coroner John Sullivan.
According to LaPorte County Police, she had a blood-alcohol level of .24.
Her front seat passenger, Christopher Palmer, 27, of Michigan City sustained a separated pelvis and multiple fractures to his lower back, police said.
According to police, the investigation shows Palmer wanted to leave the Halloween party at a house on County Road 500 West but his girlfriend -- preferring not to drive because of alcohol consumption -- wanted to stay.
