GARY | The Gary Department of Community Development is taking applications for its Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Facade programs aimed at funding home improvements.
The Facade program offers funds for exterior code-related work, such as roof repairs, steps, siding, sidewalks, windows and doors. Eligible applicants can receive a deferred grant up to $15,000.
The Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program also offers deferred grants up to $25,000 and aims to fund code-related interior and exterior work first, then general improvement work. Applicants must obtain a portion of funds from a bank or credit union.
Both of the programs are targeted in the following City areas:
* Midtown -- 15th to 24th avenues; Broadway to Madison Street
* Emerson Area -- 5th to 9th avenues; Broadway to Virginia Street
* Horace Mann -- 2nd to 9th avenues; Broadway to Grant Street
* University Park -- 33rd to 38th avenues (or Ridge Road); Martin Luther King Drive to Grant Street
