MUNSTER | Fire gutted a garage and tore into a house in north Munster on Sunday afternoon.
A man was working in the yard of the home in the 1200 block of River Drive when the garage caught fire about 1:55 p.m., said Munster Fire Chief James Knesek. The fire consumed the garage and spread to part of the house.
Investigators did not pinpoint the fire's cause Sunday, Knesek said. No one was hurt. Firefighters from Highland, Lynwood, Calumet City, Lansing, South Holland and East Hazel Crest assisted.
"It was burning pretty good," Knesek said.
