A Hammond woman remained in serious condition Wednesday after a car wreck in Hammond that stemmed from a chase in Calumet City.

Linda Rositas, 54, was taken to St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond after the crash about 6 p.m. Sunday at Columbia Avenue and 169th Street in Hammond, police said. Rositas was transferred to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., where she was in serious condition Wednesday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Rositas rode in a Honda Civic that was hit by an Oldmobile Aurora that ran a red light during a chase, according to a police report. The Aurora's driver, Quincy Latimore, 34, of Hanover Park, was taken to the Lake County Jail and charged with driving while suspended and refusal to identify himself, the report stated. Latimore also was cited for traffic violations, Calumet City Police Chief Ed Gilmore said.

Calumet City police first suspected Latimore exposed himself, but officers later concluded he was fighting with women before he fled and officers pursued, Gilmore said.

Also hurt in the Civic was Domingo Rositas, 54, of Hammond. He was treated and released from a local hospital.
