VALPARAISO | Michael Haughee, a former Hebron official and former Lake County deputy prosecutor, was released from jail Monday and is to appear in court today on a request to move Tell City, Ind.

Haughee is asking Porter Circuit Court Judge Mary Harper to modify his sentence to allow him to undergo sex offender and mental health treatment at Southern Hills Counseling in Perry County.

Harper had sentenced Haughee to undergo treatment locally with Porter-Starke Services and the Project PRO sex offender treatment and monitoring program.

Harper sent Haughee back to jail last month after determining he violated the probation he was given after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a disabled woman in 2006.

Haughee, who failed to notify officials of a change of address within 24 hours and missed a probation appointment, was on probation after a jury found him guilty in January on felony counts of sexual battery and criminal confinement and a misdemeanor count of interference with the reporting of a crime.

Harper sentenced Haughee to one year in jail, which was completed in half that time with good behavior. Haughee, a suspended attorney, was released in September from the Porter County Jail and began his time on probation.
