Wanatah residents have received a 96-gallon tote from the County Solid Waste District. if any resident feels they cannot use the container due to its size, they can request a 48-gallon tote and they will be placed on a list for the smaller container. if you continue to use the old containers, you still have to put the big blue tote out with the older baskets. The cost of recycling is $3.50 a month and is applied to property taxes. If you are 65 or older and have a Senior Property Tax Exemption you will be charged at a reduced rate. if you do not have the exemption, call the solid Waste district at (8000 483-7700 and they will assist in filing the exemption for you.

Meeting

The Cass Township Advisory Board has scheduled a meeting for 7:30 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Wanatah school. The meeting is open to the public.

South Central School news

For the third month more than 80 percent of south Central elementary students have participated in the Get Excited About Reading program. the 100 percent classes were the a.m. and p.m.m kindergarten: Sherry Miller's, Frailey's class and Bruce Johnson's class.

The January GEAR will be the Six flags Great America Reading Challenge. To qualify for a free ticket to Great America students must read 360 minutes in January.

The school nurse requests used clothing for girls and boys in the kindergarten through grade 3 sizes such as jeans, sweat pants, socks and underwear for accidents like wet weather slips.

Blood drive

Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah is hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the church hall.

Dewy Township news

Officers elected at the Dewey Township Advisory Board at LaCrosse school include Paul Malecki, president; Sherry Meiss, secretary and Aaron Rust, finance officer. Jessica Gravel has been employed as math and chemistry teacher succeeding Heather Sanderson.

Principal Tiim Somers presented an after-school project for students having a D or F grade. The board approved the idea. Somers will formulate the program to present to the board for approval.

The Dewy and Cass Twp. trustees have accepted the agreement for transfer tuition at $7,000 per student.

The board requested a waiver from the state for two days in September when the school was unable to function due to the excessive flooding which closed the school.

The financial report of extracurricular activities fund was accepted. The next meeting is at 6 p.m .Jan. 15 at Lacrosse School.
