About Leah:

She and her husband, John, live in Valparaiso and have two children: Jenna and Johnny. Bachelor's degree in business management from Purdue University. Bachelor's degree in nursing from Purdue University. Registered nurse employed by Porter Hospital. Member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso.

Accomplishments: Leah Saltanovitz is the community wellness coordinator for Porter Hospital. She coordinates and performs health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol by appointment. Total cholesterol screenings are 9 to 11 a.m.May 19 at Valparaiso Public Library and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. May 28 at Education and Rehabilitation Campus (ERC), 1401 Calumet Ave. in Valparaiso. Blood pressure and blood sugar screenings are 10 to noon May 20 at Kouts Library and 9 to 11 a.m.June 4 at Chesterton Medical Center. Saltanovitz is involved in the car seat inspection program where parents are educated on proper installation and given help if needed; upcoming events are May 15 and 27 at Valparaiso Fire Department by appointment. Saltanovitz also helps coordinate educational offerings for Senior Circle and Healthy Women. A program called Health Screenings Every Woman Needs To Have is 7 p.m. May 12 at ERC and Is it Hot?, an informational program on menopause is 7 p.m.May 13

at Hilton Garden and May 20 at Woodland Park. "I really love the opportunity to interact with the public and to be able to impact them in a positive way by giving them information they need," she said. Saltanovitz participated in hospital activities celebrating Nurses Week, May 6 to 12.
