DYER: Police believe victim was followed home from bank
Dyer police are searching for a man who threw a woman down in her garage and stole her purse and car Wednesday morning.
Police believe the man and an accomplice followed the woman to her home in the 900 block of Kensington East after she withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from a Calumet City bank, Dyer Detective Cmdr. Ken Croft said.
The woman pulled into her garage about 10:30 a.m., got out of her car and was approached by a man who demanded her purse. He threw her to the ground, stole her purse and car and fled toward Calumet Avenue, Croft said.
The woman was not seriously hurt.
The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black man between 18 and 25 years old with a stocky build. The woman's car is a 2001 silver four-door Oldsmobile Intrigue.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Croft or Dyer Detective Sgt. David Hein at (219) 865-1163.
