Do you have a loved one that is suffering from Alzheimer's disease or dementia? Do they live at home with you? Have you ever had concerns about what would happen if they wandered out of the house on their own?

Crown Point residents will now be able to enroll their family members into Project Lifesaver. Crown Point Fire Rescue and St. Anthony Medical Center have collaborated to join Project Lifesaver. This program provides a means and a team for quickly locating a missing Alzheimer's or dementia patient. Clients enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal.

Thanks to the City of Crown Point and St. Anthony Medical Center for funding the necessary training and equipment needed for this service.

For more information, contact Fire Chief Greg DeLor at (219) 662-3248 or visit www.projectlifesaver.org.

Dare to prepare teens to drive

Parents, do you have a teenager counting the days until they can get their driving permit? Teens, do you know what the state's requirements are to obtain a driving permit and license?

"Dare to Prepare" is a free program that will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at First Financial Bank, 11890 Broadway, to help answer those questions. This 90-minute program will provide parents and teenagers with information they need to know before a teen takes the wheel, the necessary steps needed to obtain a permit and driving license, state requirements, as well as parental roles and responsibilities and a sample of a parent-teen driving agreement.

Parents will also learn tips on how to teach their teen how to drive. This program promotes safe teen driving and is presented by the AAA Traffic Safety.

To reserve seats, contact Judith Mariola at (219) 226-2066 or Judith.mariola@bankatfirst.com or call AAA Insurance at (219) 769-4819.
