Lacrosse Lions Club installed Kate Horse as a new member Tuesday when they met at the United Methodist Church. Horst is the manager of the LaCrosse branch of First Source Bank. Kevin roe Commander of Lions District 25A, was the installing officer. He made his first official visit of the year to the LaCrosse group.

Craig Aigner received the Melvin Jones award for work he has done during the year.

School board

South Central School board will meet Tuesday in the conference room at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are open to patrons of the school.

Historical society

The Wanatah Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the town hall. The society invited anyone who is interested in early history of the area to attend.

Cass Township news

Larry Rust of the Cass-Clinton Twp. Volunteer Fire Department asked the Wanatah Town Council to sign the Mutual Aid box alarm System. The agreement was approved by council members and will alert other departments when a fire alarm is registered with any department.

The council will contact FEMA about extra expenses and damages incurred by the town during the flooding. The town applied for an emergency extension of loans due to the lack of a tax draw.

The council heard two readings of the salary ordinance listing up to a 5 percent salary increase. The third reading will be at a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17.

The council approved $1,500 for cleaning the Eckert ditch from railroad Street north. the ditch has been holding water back due to debris and growth.

The town hall office will be closed Dec. 11.

The custodial contract and responsibilities of the position will be discusses at the special meeting Dec. 17.

The council signed the contract with Hatfield Pest Control.

The park board will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 8.

Water and sewage billing will change to a letter form instead of the postcards shortly.

Meet Santa

Children can meet Santa Claus at 5:30 p.m Friday at the Wanatah Public Library, 114 S. main St.

Advisory board

The Dewey Township Advisory board will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at the LaCrosse School. The meeting was previously scheduled for Dec. 18.
