Around the square
I would like to offer kudos to the Old Sheriff's House Foundation for hosting Murder in Mayberry mystery dinner on Oct. 3. What a wonderful evening - my husband and I haven't laughed that much in ages.
Besides the many baskets donated for the silent auction, the performers were fantastic. If you missed this year's event, plan on attending next year.
Speaking of the Old Sheriff's House, tours are still available from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays through October. See the parts of the house that have been restored and get a glimpse of the cells. See where scenes for the film "Public Enemies" was shot.
Cost for tours is $5 for adults, $2 for children 6 to 11 and free for younger children.
