There is a winter weather advisory in effect for the region and northeast Illinois from 3 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Romeoville, Ill.
Snow is expected to begin early Friday and continue through early Saturday morning. By Saturday, most of Northwest Indiana and Chicago and its south suburbs could have at least 4 inches of snow on the ground. Southern Lake, Porter, Will counties should see lower snow fall totals.
Friday's temperature is expected to be between the mid-20s and the low 30s.
The weather service warns that driving visibility could be limited with the snowy conditions.
