ART UNVEILING | Munster
Ridgewood Arts Foundation's Theatre at the Center will host an unveiling reception for "Knute Rockne All-American," a painting by Mitch Markovitz, commissioned to help celebrate the world premiere of the musical "Knute Rockne All-American," premiering April 3 to May 11 at Theater at the Center. Complimentary hors d'ouevres, wine and beer will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 and the painting will be unveiled at 6 p.m. at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. BOOK SIGNING | Highland
Jane Bomberger, local author and director of special projects for Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, will sign her latest book, "The Community Hospital - An Impossible Dream," from 3 to 5 p.m. March 1 at Borders Books and Music, 10135 Indianapolis Blvd. Joseph Gonzalez, the book's graphic designer, also will be present. "The Community Hospital - An Impossible Dream" is a four-color, 300-page hard-bound book that details the history of Community Hospital from conception through 2006. Copies are available at Borders for $30. Bomberger's current projects include writing histories for both St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. These hospitals, along with Community Hospital, make up the Community Healthcare System.

FILM FESTIVAL | East Chicago
The East Chicago Public Library presents a film festival for February celebrating Black History Month. The following movies will be shown at 5 p.m. at the main library, 2401 E. Antique lovers will have plenty to choose from this weekend when the Greater Crown Point Chamber of Commerce serves up a building full of antiques and collectibles at its annual spring show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 1 and 2 in the Industrial Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Admission is $4 for adults; children 12 and younger are admitted free of charge. CHARTER ACADEMY | Gary
Aspire Charter Academy has scheduled a parent information meeting for parents interested in learning more information about the school. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Gary Public Library, 220 W. Fifth Ave. Board members and staff will be on hand to answer questions. The academy, a charter school that will serve students in Gary and nearby areas, will open its doors for the first time in September.
