Bat, gun pulled during road rage, police say
CHESTERTON | A 23-year-old Chesterton man told police he was the victim of a road rage incident at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday on Broadway in Chesterton.
The man told police he was behind a green or blue Ford full-sized pickup truck that wasn't moving at Broadway and 15th Street. The man told police he went around the truck and continued eastbound, but the driver of the truck began tailgating him.
The man told police he hit his brakes to get the driver of the truck to back off, but the driver of the truck flailed his arms, flashed his lights and followed him.
The man stopped and held a baseball bat, at which time the driver of the truck displayed a gun and then drove away. The driver of the truck is described as an average-sized male in his 50s, wearing a Hooligans ball cap. Police were unable to locate the truck.
Man from woman's past facing invasion charges
PORTER TOWNSHIP | A 51-year-old Boone Grove resident told police Wednesday that a man she briefly dated 17 years ago showed up at her home unannounced and uninvited three weeks ago and has repeatedly called her, sent her text messages and e-mailed her.
The woman got a restraining order against the man, and he is accused of violating it. The man, Michael Todd, 54, of Cedar Lake, was arrested Wednesday and faces formal invasion of privacy charges.
Police say burglar got into business via roof
PINE TOWNSHIP | Porter County police responded to an alarm at Virk's New Mart, 3901 E. U.S. 12, at 3:33 a.m. Wednesday and discovered that someone gained entry via the roof and burglarized the business.
Police said the burglar caused $5,000 damage and stole $500 in coins. The owner told police his store in Michigan City had recently been burglarized in a similar manner.
Report leads police to take four into custody
PORTAGE | Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at Park Place Apartments, 5950 Old Porter Road, at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday and ended up impounding two cars and arresting four people.
Arrested on visiting a common nuisance charges were Gary residents Rian U. Chambers, 34, and Jimmy T. Edwards, 26.
Arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance was Maurice L. Morgan, 32, of Michigan City.
Arrested on charges of possession of a pistol without a permit, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and possession of a legend drug was Reginald A. Webster, 26, of Gary.

Fraud. Kensington Court resident Tom Hansch reported someone went to a motorcycle shop in Maryland and tried to use his personal information to open a line of credit and purchase a motorcycle.

Fraud. Griffin Lake Avenue resident Delores Newcome reported someone used her personal information to open accounts and make $1,047 in charges.
WEDNESDAY
Vandalism. Allsafe Storage, 1240 Broadway, reported $20 damage to the hasps on four storage units. It is unknown if anything was stolen from the units.

Theft. East County Road 1200 North resident John Linstedt reported a gasoline can containing six gallons of gasoline stolen from the side of his barn. The loss is $31.

Theft. Monument Avenue resident Cherie O'Shaughnessy reported the theft of a $400 radar detector.
Theft. Nativity School, 2929 Willowcreek Road, reported the theft of 250 pounds of aluminum cans, a loss of $225.

Theft. Valparaiso resident Stephanie Withan reported her wallet was stolen from her purse while it was in her shopping cart at Target, 2420 LaPorte Ave. The loss is $65.
Theft. Chesterton resident Kirsten Babcock reported her wallet, which contained $6 and a credit card, was stolen from her purse while she was studying at Panera Bread, 2710 LaPorte Ave. The credit card was used to make about $500 in purchases.
