Donnell Jehan is wanted for federal drug violations
Times Staff Report
The FBI has doubled its reward for information leading to the arrest of a reputed South Side gang leader who has been known to frequent the south suburbs, including South Holland.
The FBI announced Tuesday a $20,000 reward for 39-year-old Donnell Jehan, whose last known address was 6522 S. Ashland Ave. in Chicago, said Robert D. Grant, special agent in charge of the Chicago Office.
Jehan has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt since May 2004 after being charged in a criminal complaint with multiple violations of federal drug laws, officials said.
Forty-six other members and associates of the Black Disciples street gang were named in the complaint with Jehan, who is the lone defendant to remain a fugitive.
The FBI describes Jehan as a black male, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, 250 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a slight beard and mustache and is known to use the alias of Darnel Clark and the street names of Scandalous and Scan.
Jehan was last known to be driving a Cadillac Escalade with Illinois license plate J325569. He should be considered armed and dangerous and is alleged to be a high ranking member of the Black Disciples and has an extensive criminal record for crimes of violence, police said.
In addition to his apartment on South Ashland Avenue, Jehan is known to frequent Chicago's Southeast Side and the south suburbs around South Holland.
In 2004, federal and local law enforcement officials announced the arrest of 32 members of the Black Disciples street gang and the breakup of a multimillion-dollar narcotics distribution ring, which was the result of a 15-year joint investigation.
The drug operation allegedly involved broadcast radio transmissions to alert gang members to the presence of police.
The operation led to the arrest of Marvel Thompson, the alleged leader of the Black Disciples, and the seizure of more than $300,000, 11 guns, several bulletproof vests, assorted jewelry and boxes of gang-related documents.
Anyone with information about Jehan's whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
