Merrillville man charged with battery after attack

An 18-year-old Merrillville man is accused of attacking a man March 2 at a gas station on 73rd Avenue.

Javaris D. Marable was charged with aggravated battery and battery in Lake County Criminal Court Monday.

Court documents allege the victim was using a pay telephone at the gas station when he noticed two vehicles pulling into the parking lot.

The victim told police Marable and occupants from both vehicles attacked him after he finished using the phone.

The victim suffered various injuries, including having seven of his teeth knocked out, the documents allege.
