HOBART | The storms that damaged the new Hobart High School building project in July caused more than $5 million in damage. School City of Hobart insurance is expected to cover a $1 million repair project, officials said Thursday at a school district meeting.

"The insurance company has already advanced us $400,000 of that money," district business manager Ted Zembala said.

The change order -- approved unanimously by the board of trustees -- was made on behalf of contractor Stone City Ironworks for $1.01 million. The claim is pending, and the rest of the insurance money should be forthcoming as soon as the claim is settled, he said. The steel for the project is scheduled to be delivered sometime in March.
