Photography exhibit shows how economic growth affects farmland
MUNSTER | South Shore Arts is presenting an exhibit that looks at how local farmland is overtaken by economic growth.
Pavement Ends - The Vanishing Rural Landscape: Photography by Richard Loslo will be on display through May 18 in the Atrium Gallery at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the gallery. This event is free and open to the public.
A resident of Northwest Indiana for more than 20 years, Loslo has been interested in photography since he was 8 years old. His photographs have documented the lives of his family, friends and the students he has worked with in his teaching career.
Pavement Ends evolved from Loslo's fascination with the rapid changes taking place in the area. In the early 80s, Loslo bicycled extensively throughout the Region, some days pedaling more than 80 miles.
Through the photographs in this exhibit, Loslo shares his appreciation of the shrinking rural landscape throughout Chicagoland.
This exhibit is free and open to the public. Atrium Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
