FASHIONS & LUNCH | Schererville

Crown Point Football Moms Club will hold its seventh annual Style Show Luncheon at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Halls of St. George, 905 E. Joliet St. Doors open at noon for a bake sale, silent auction, class basket raffle and more. Fashions will be provided by Seasons on the Square and Char's Bridal Boutique.

MUSIC JAM | Roselawn

A country, gospel and bluegrass music jam with Betty Tetzlaff and friends will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 1 at Roselawn American Legion Post 238, Ind. 10 between Interstate 65 and Ind. 55. Fish fry will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. A large dance floor is available; no smoking, please.

WALKING TOUR | Crown Point

Crown Point Historic Preservation Commission and Mayor Dave Uran's Office of Special Events will host a free Walking Tour of the Downtown Historic District from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 2. The walking tour will begin at the Old Sheriff's House and Jail, 226 S. Main St., where refreshments will be served while quantities last. The tour will feature three main historical elements that make up historic downtown Crown Point - the Old Homestead-Wellington A. Clark Home, one of the oldest landmarks in Lake County; the Old Sheriff's House and Jail, which was recently a site for the filming of the John Dillinger movie "Public Enemies," and the Old Lake County Courthouse that houses the Lake County Historical Museum as well as unique shops and offices. The history of other buildings in the downtown district will also be explained. Participants will receive a tour map and informational brochure. Reservations are not required.

MONTHLY BREAKFAST | Crown Point

Fred Schmidt American Legion Post 20, Auxiliary Unit 20 and the Sons of the Legion will serve the monthly breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Aug. 2 at the post home, 1401 N. Main St. All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, toast, juice, coffee and milk cost $6 for adults, $5 for veterans and $3 for children 6 to 15 and a door special this month. Younger children eat free. Proceeds benefit American Legion projects for the local library, scholarships, youth, veterans and their families.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES | Hobart

Hobart Jaycees are sponsoring a "Color Their World" back-to-school supply drive for area school children. Donations can be dropped off at Avon Advantage Center, Cardinal Fitness, Centier Bank, Ginter Realty, Hobart Chamber of Commerce, Hobart Family YMCA, Hobart fire stations, MainSource Bank, Marilyn's Bakery, Southlake Nautilus Total Fitness Center and Strack & Van Til Store, all in Hobart. The drive will end with a Hobart Jaycees Kids' Fishing Derby on Aug. 16 at the Lakefront Festival, where donations can also be made. The goal is to collect a boat load of supplies.

Lake County 4-H Department will conduct its annual 4-H Small Animal and Livestock Auction at 4 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Livestock Show Pavilion at the Lake County Fair, 889 S. Midwest Antique Clock & Watch Show and Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9 at The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, U.S. 30 an Interstate 65. Presented by the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors Inc., admission is $6 for adults and free for children 11 and younger. Bring watches and clocks for a free evaluation. Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce sponsors its annual Town Wide Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 9. There are two ways to participate - sell from home and have the address designated on a sale map for $5 or rent a 20-by-20-foot space at the Hanover Central High School parking lot, 10120 W. 133rd Ave., for $10.

CRUISE NIGHT | Knox

Friends of the Park Association of Knox will hold its second Knox Cruise Nite on Aug. 2 down Main Street. Cruisers can register their antique, classic, custom and hot rod cars, trucks or motorcycles starting at 3:30 p.m. at Shelter #2 in Wythogan Park. Cost is a $10 donation to the Friends of the Park Assoc. Dash plaques and door prizes will be given away. Cruising will run from 4:30 to 6:30, with activities in the park until 8. Granny's Wagon will have food in the park and Tony's DJ will play music throughout the evening.

LEPRECHAUN HUNT | LaPorte County

The 14th annual Leprechaun Hunt Family Fun Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at Sharing Meadows, U.S. 20 to LaPorte County Road, then north two miles. All you care to eat ribs, chicken, sausage, roast lamb, corned beef, pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, wine and pop, plus Irish entertainment, hay rides, Moonwalk, fishing and boating. Find one of 29 leprechauns hiding on the 185-acre grounds and win cash up to $1,500. Cost is $40 by Aug. 1 or $50 at the gate for adults, with a $5 discount for senior citizens. Youths 17 and younger admitted free with a parent or grandparent. Proceeds benefit Sharing Meadows, a community for adults with a handicap.

BIKE-A-THON | Hobart

The Baptist Children's Home 28th Annual Bike-a-thon will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 9 at Inland Manor Baptist Church, 630 N. County Line Road. The ride begins at 9 a.m. Walkers will register at 9 a.m., and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt, lunch and snacks along the ride/walk. The route includes a 20-mile ride or 2-mile walk along the Prairie Duneland Trail. Baptist Children's Home is an international ministry caring for children who are orphaned, abused or neglected.

MOTORCYCLE RUN | Schererville

American Legion Post 485 Riders host a motorcycle run Aug. 3 to benefit the Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative early childhood disabilities classrooms. Rider start at the post, 7485 Burr St. The cost is $15 for single riders and $25 for couples. Sign in at 10 a.m. with the first bike out at 11 a.m. Music will be by Wind Gypsys.

FOOD DRIVE | Schererville

A food drive to benefit Hospice of the Calumet Area will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at Strack and Van Til, U.S. 30 and 41. Any nonperishable items will be appreciated. They will be used at hospice's William J. Riley Memorial Residence in Munster.

GOLF OUTING | Frankfort, Ill.

Mount Carmel Alumni Association 2008 Frank Kiszka Memorial Golf Classic will be Aug. 4 at Green Garden Country Club, 9511 W. Monee-Manhattan Road. Registration is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. There will be a free driving range from 9 to 11 a.m. The fee of $140 includes greens fees, range balls, golf cart, continental breakfast, course refreshments, lunch, dinner and 19th hole open bar. There will be awards and prizes.
