Suspect escapes with duffle bag filled with weekend's receipts
HOBART | A man wearing a ski mask and dark-colored clothing robbed a Value City manager at gunpoint shortly before noon on Monday, police Lt. Steve Houck said.
The manager was forced to hand over a duffle bag filled with the weekend's money and receipts that he was about to deposit at a local bank, Houck said.
According to police, the suspect approached the manager and another employee as the two were heading to their car in the Value City parking lot. Value City, 2652 E. 79th Ave., is located north of Westfield Southlake shopping mall on U.S. 30 east of Interstate 65.
The man pressed his gun into the manager's ribs and demanded he turn the bag over to him. He fled west on foot.
Neither the manager nor the employee were injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 4 inches, wearing dark pants, a dark-hooded coat and a ski mask. Only his eyes were visible, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (219) 942-3406.
