Author visit | Lansing

Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave., will host an author visit at 6:30 tonight. "Never What it Seems" by Diane Martin is the featured book. Author will have books available for purchase. There will be a book signing following the program.

SPRING FLING | Homewood

Seniors 55 and older can celebrate the season at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District's FAB Spring Fling from noon to 2 p.m. April 21 at the Irwin Center, 18120 S. Highland Ave. Entertainer Mike Brown will offer a tribute to Frank Sinatra after a roast pork lunch. The fee is $6 for residents and $9 for nonresidents. Register by today.

Craft bazaar | Chicago

George Washington Elementary School PTA is hosting a craft bazaar and flea market from noon to 6 p.m. April 17 at the school, 3611 E. 114th St. Craft items, garage sale items, clothes, books, toys, business items, AVON and other vendors will be there. There will be no food or raffle items.

Community ministry | Lansing

Cheryl Cole, a specially trained and licensed counselor with the Lansing Marriage and Family Counseling Center, will present a brief overview of the program "The Right to be a Grown-Up" at 7 p.m. April 23 in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Ave. After learning about the program, participants can register for the five-week course. The program focuses on difficult teens and provides the tools to gain control in a loving and supportive manner. This is a LYDIA Ministries sponsored activity to the community.

MOTORCYCLE BREAKFAST | Hammond

The American Veterans Motorcycle Riders Association, Chapter 1, hosts its third annual breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. April 20 at Hessville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7881, 6831 Kennedy Ave. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Pancakes, eggs and biscuits and gravy will be served with coffee, juice and milk.

The Illiana Garden Pond Society presents its Waterscape Weekend Garden, Pond & Patio Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 and 27 at Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children younger than 15. Vendors will offer garden and pond plants and supplies, outdoor lighting, garden decor and colorful pond fish for purchase. Speakers such as Carolyn Ulrich, the editor of Chicagoland Gardening Magazine, and Wayne Gruber, Purdue horticulturalist, will present seminars. Local garden clubs and master gardeners will be available to answer questions.
