GARY | A routine traffic stop Saturday netted a Lake County police officer an arrest and a pound of marijuana, police said.

Officer Jon Breitweiser stopped Clarence Harrison, 35, for speeding about 7 p.m. in the 4000 block of Georgia Street in Calumet Township, a police report says.

Breitweiser reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana and asked Harrison about it. Harrison began to shake uncontrollably and handed the officer a small bag of marijuana, police said. During a subsequent search, Breitweiser found 58 bags of marijuana totaling one pound, the report says.

Breitweiser arrested Harrison on probable cause of possession of marijuana.
