Several Valparaiso University students were honored by the College of Business Administration for their academic accomplishments.
Many students were inducted into the national honors societies Beta Gamma Sigma or Alpha Iota Delta while others received scholarships.
To be eligible for induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, one must rank in the upper 10 percent of the junior class, upper 10 percent of the senior class, or upper 20 percent of the masters class.
Membership is the highest national recognition a business student can receive in an accredited business school program. To be eligible for induction into Alpha Iota Delta, one must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.2 and a 3.5 GPA in decision science courses.
Honored were the following:
Cedar Lake: Monica Castanon, a senior accounting and finance major, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and received the Erwin E. Goehring Scholarship.
Chesterton: Valerie Brown, a senior marketing major, was inducted into Alpha Iota Delta and received the scholarship for Outstanding Marketing Major.
Crown Point: Kevin Frump, a master's in engineering management student was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. Andrew Idzior, a junior accounting and finance major, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and received the Gilbert A. Peters Scholarship. Chelsea Saunders, a junior marketing major, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and received the Dean's Diligence Junior Scholarship. Stephanie Spajer, a graduate business student, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
Hobart: Alison Becker, a graduate business student, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
Portage: Nicole Hanna, a senior marketing major, was inducted into Alpha Iota Delta.
Valparaiso: Ruthie Mendoza, a senior management major, received the Outstanding Management Major Scholarship. Gregory Michalec, a senior accounting major, was inducted into Alpha Iota Delta and received the Outstanding Marketing Major Scholarship. Jeffrey Miller, a senior management major, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and received the Dean's Diligence Non-Traditional Scholarship. Elizabeth Pirie, a senior accounting and finance major, was inducted into Alpha Iota Delta. Tobias Stagge, a graduate business student, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. Takeshi Tsuyuguchi, a senior information and decision sciences major, received the Outstanding Information and Decision Sciences Major Scholarship.
