INDIANAPOLIS | Hebron has a new multimillionaire.

Dolores Lightfoot, of Hebron, was declared the winner of the July 2 Hoosier Lotto $10 million jackpot, beating the 1 in 12,271,512 odds with her six matching numbers of 12, 17, 18, 29, 45 and 47.

Lightfoot told lottery officials she spends about $4 a week playing Lotto, and, when she had the numbers checked at the Godfather's Liquor store at 107 E. Morthland Dr., Valparaiso, where she bought the tickets, she couldn't believe her eyes.

"I had the girls checking and checking," she said. "They were crying (with joy). That's when they told me."

Lightfoot and her husband Herbert kept the ticket at home over the July 4 weekend and then put it in a lockbox. Until they claimed the prize Tuesday, they had told only their lawyer, tax accountant and an investment advisor.

"Our kids don't know," Herbert Lightfoot said. "They will all get a piece of the action."

The Lightfoots opted to take a one-time, lump sum payment estimated at $4,483,492 before taxes. Godfather's Liquor employees had reason to be happy too because the store gets a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
