HAMMOND | Purdue University Calumet's School of Technology will host an engineering technology summer workshop for high school students from July 7 to 25 on campus.

"Participating students will explore engineering technology ‘hands-on,' igniting their interest in the field and building momentum for their college studies down the road," Purdue Calumet School of Technology academic adviser Patrick Leser said.

Specifically, the workshop will include lectures and hands-on activities relating to computer aided manufacturing, nanotechnology, surveying technology, 3-D rendering, radio frequency identification, Lean Six-Sigma methods, construction and leadership.

Students also will take field trips and tours, learn about job opportunities in engineering technology and meet professionals in the field.

Sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lunch is included.

Students who have completed at least the ninth grade and have a grade-point average of at least 3.0 in mathematics and science courses are eligible to apply. The application deadline is June 20.
