Woman seeking police help is later arrested

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP | A Portage Township woman called Porter County police on Tuesday to report that her ex-boyfriend battered her and is refusing to give back her pickup truck.

Police said they are investigating the woman's allegations, but they said they determined she was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a civil contempt charge. The woman, Christina Alexander, 39, of 145 Harmony Trail, was arrested.

Theft. Meadowdale Court resident Leigh Fozkos reported a $50 purse stolen from her vehicle.

MONDAY

Theft. County Road 700 North resident Terry King reported a $2,500 Yamaha motorcycle, a $2,500 Honda motorcycle and $350 of other items stolen from his garage.

Theft. Gainesway Circle resident Jeffrey Reinhard reported a $300 satellite radio stolen from his vehicle.

Theft. Vlasta Court resident Michael Orcutt reported a $1,500 Dell laptop computer and a $300 iPod stolen from his vehicle.

TUESDAY

Theft. County Road 264 West resident Joseph Klich reported $1,100 worth of pipes and angle iron stolen from his yard.

WEDNESDAY

Arrest. Jason Martin, 26, of Chesterton, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public intoxication after he was accused of intentionally breaking the door at Roadhouse Bar after being asked to leave.

PINE TOWNSHIP

MONDAY

Theft. Someone stole a $200 safe containing $600 of savings bonds, $500 in coins, $1,500 cash, $1,800 of jewelry, 220 pills and two guns belonging to County Road 500 East residents Earl and Donna Lowder. In addition, three other guns were taken from other locations in the home.

Theft. Oxford Avenue resident Vilius Baciauskas reported a $150 stereo stolen from his vehicle.

Fraud. Ardendale Avenue resident Melissa Saylor reported her debit card information was being used in California.

Burglary. Canden Avenue resident Richard Reid reported a $100 Dutch girl figurine stolen from his apartment.

TUESDAY

Theft. Susan McCoy, of the 5100 block of Dolphin, reported a $250 bicycle stolen from her yard.

Theft. Lois Street resident Brandon Fuller reported a wallet containing $50 stolen from his vehicle.

TUESDAY

Trespass. Porter County police said a juvenile trespassed inside a vacant mobile home on Greenfield and broke a window at a home on Harmony. Police are seeking charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

Theft. West U.S. 30 resident Jim Devries reported a $100 passenger's side mirror stolen from his vehicle.

VALPARAISO

SUNDAY

Theft. William Drive resident Brian Hrusovsky reported $1,060 worth of stereo equipment stolen from his car.

MONDAY

Arrest. Jason Rasco, 29, of 1301 Elm St., Valparaiso, was arrested on a burglary charge after he was accused of burglarizing Monica Goheen's apartment in the 1400 block of Chicago St. Police said he originally claimed to have caught the burglars. But police said an investigation showed he was the burglar and some stolen property was recovered.

Theft. L&S Metal Recycling, 550 Boundary St., reported a $100 lawn mower stolen

WEDNESDAY

Arrest. Charles "Fred" Maxey, 46, of 581 N. Calumet, Valparaiso, was arrested on a battery charge after he was accused of picking up a shovel and striking another man with the shovel blade at their place of employment, the Post-Tribune at 902 Calumet Ave.
