Landscape design

Purdue University North Central Office of Continuing Education is offering a non-credit landscape design course.

"Landscape Design" will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 3-24. The registration fee is $129, with an additional book fee of $26.

This class will teach the fundamentals of good landscape design of what goes where and why by matching the right plants with the unique conditions of each site. It will include the basics of gathering site data, accurate base plans, effective plant selection, planting designs, basic grading and drainage and planning various landscape elements.

Home inspectors course

Purdue University North Central Office of Continuing Education will offer a course to prepare students to take the Indiana Home Inspector Examination and become licensed home inspectors in Indiana. Ken Jones, a licensed Indiana Home Inspector, will teach students about the intricacies of building structures and systems and demonstrate investigative techniques needed to complete inspections of homes and businesses. "Pre-licensing for Home Inspectors" will meet at the PNC Westville campus from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 2 through Nov. 6. Registration is $1,049 and a textbook is included.

Computer class

Purdue University North Central Office of Continuing Education will offer a non-credit course to introduce the basics of using a computer and get individuals started on the path to computer literacy. "Computer Basics" will meet at Purdue North Central - Porter County, at 600 Vale Park Road, on Wednesdays, Sept. 10 to 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. Registration is $89. A recommended book is available for $26. This course will cover topics such as using the mouse, browsing the internet, how to use email and the basics of computer hardware and software.
