Music showcase | Hammond
Towle Community Theater, 5205 Hohman Ave., will host its second Local Music Showcase at 8 p.m. Oct. 10. Lying Delilah and Nomad Planets are the featured bands. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 the day of the show.

Bus trip | Whiting
The Whiting Parks Department will be taking a trip to the Towle Theater on Dec. 11 to see "Fabulous '50s Christmas," a tribute to Perry Como and Andy Williams. St. Margaret Mercy Auxiliary will host a book sale from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 and 8 at the Dyer Campus, U.S. 30, and Oct. 9 and 10 on the Hammond campus, 5454 Hohman Ave. Both sales will take place in the front lobbies. There will be books and gifts available.

Food drive | Hammond
Greater Hammond Community Services and Hammond Parks & Recreation have teamed up to host a food drive in an effort to replenish the food pantry that serves Hammond and the surrounding community for the holiday season. Donations of nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S. Sohl Ave., until Nov. 7. No clothing or paper products are needed at this time.
