Methodist church will host exercise program

The Crown Point First United Methodist Church will hold an exercise program for increasing flexibility and strength starting Friday.

The variety of exercises can be done from a chair.

Classes in the church's Fellowship Hall will be led by certified instructors of the Body Recall program.

MERRILLVILLE

Parks department offers classes for tap dancing

Children age 7 and older can take tap dance classes offered at the Pruzin Community Center, 5750 Tyler Place.

The six-week program starts Jan. 17. Classes are from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Thursdays.

The cost is $40 for residents and $45 for nonresidents, and the deadline to register is Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS

Ivy Tech names new senior vice president

Donald Doucette has been selected as the new Ivy Tech Community College senior vice president and provost, the college announced Friday.

Doucette has a 30-year career in education and most recently served as the vice chancellor for education and technology at the Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Mo.

He will begin his position at Ivy Tech on March 1.
