Brianna Cauley, 10, of Madison, Wis., was still in critical condition Monday night at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A spokesman for Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore said Sunday the girl and a friend were about 30 feet offshore at Kemil Beach in Porter County when she disappeared under the water. Someone at the beach realized the girl was in trouble and called 911.

National park rangers, the U.S. Coast Guard and dive teams from Porter County, Beverly Shores and Portage responded to search for the girl who was located and brought ashore after being under water for more than 20 minutes. She was rushed to St. Anthony Memorial hospital in Michigan City and later airlifted to Milwaukee.
