HUB RUN | Crown Point
Southlake YMCA will host its 28th Annual Hub Run 5K/2K race at 1 p.m. April 6 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Entry fee is $20. Race applications are available at the Southlake YMCA, 1450 S. Court St., or can be downloaded at www.slymca.org. Proceeds help low-income families and individuals participate in YMCA membership and programs.

YOUTH SOCCER | Hobart
Hobart Family YMCA is offering a youth soccer league for boys and girls in age groups 3-4 and 5-7. The cost is $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers. Registration runs through March 31. The season is set to begin April 19. All games will be played on Saturdays. Teams will practice once a week for one hour.

WOMEN'S HEALTH | Merrillville
The Speaking of Women's Health® conference, hosted by Lakeshore Public Television, will be held May 15 at The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, Interstate 65 and U.S. 30. This year's theme is "Discover Your Everyday Superheroes," an invitation to celebrate the mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and friends who impact and influence your life. Conference tickets, $35 each, go on sale at 9 a.m. April 5, and are limited to two per person. Purchase in-person at the Lakeshore PTV studios, 8625 Indiana Place in Merrillville, or by phone. Last year, tickets were sold out within an hour. Conference attendees spend the day being "edu-tained" and "em-pampered," as they learn about total wellness, from health screenings to financial security; from decorating to dietary tips and exercise innovations. The day includes socializing, health screenings, beauty tips, lunch, raffle prizes, and a goody bag filled with more than $150 worth of gifts.

ADULT BASKETBALL | Hobart
Registration continues until April 5 for the Hobart Family YMCA's adult basketball leagues. The adult leagues will begin play April 14. Two leagues will serve separate age groups. There will be an 18 years and older competitive league that plays on Monday nights and a league for players 30 and older that plays on Tuesday nights. The cost is $450 per team, due at registration. The season will consist of eight regular season games and a tourney.

BREAST-FEEDING CLASS | Crown Point
A breast-feeding class for women and their support people is 7 to 9:30 p.m. April 8 or 9 at St. Anthony Medical Center, 1201 S. Main St. Topics include the role of the partner, how to feed your baby when you are away and suggestions for returning to work. Register.

EXERCISE CLASS | Crown Point
A low-impact exercise class is offered for senior citizens by the Crown Point Parks and Recreation Department from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Crown Point Civic Center, 101 S. East St.

WALK AT SCHOOL | Lowell
The field house track at Lowell High School, 2051 E. Commercial Ave., is available from 6:15 to 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, when school is in session, for Tri-Creek residents interested in walking for exercise. Park in a visitors' space in the north parking lot and enter through Door 20. Bring walking shoes to change into (wet shoes are not permitted on the track), and provide an ID and complete a walker's permit with the assigned attendant. If the attendant is not available, a sign will be posted cancelling the activity.

PUBERTY CLASS | Crown Point
A Mother and Daughter Puberty Class Level 1 designed for young ladies ages 9-12 and their mothers or a trusted female adult will meet from 9 a.m. to noon April 12 at the Marian Education Center, 1201 S. Main St. This class will address the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty. There is a $25 fee for each mother and daughter, payable at the class. Register early as class size is limited to 20.

BIRTHING HYPNOSIS | Crown Point
Easy Birthing Hypnosis is a class that teaches self-hypnotic techniques to expectant mothers to make childbirth easier and more comfortable. The focus is on reducing fear, decreasing stress and increasing endorphins to relieve pain. Classes are offered in four sessions from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 3 to 24 or June 5 to 26 at St. Anthony Medical Center, 1201 S. Main St. Cost is $150.

BLOOD DRIVE | Merrillville
Heartland Blood Centers hosts a drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 2 at Strack & Van Til, 7201 Taft St. Appointments may be made at the service desk, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with written parental permission) and be in good health.

OPEN HOUSE | Portage
The Lupus Foundation of America, Indiana chapter, presents a National Lupus Alert Day open house from 4 to 7 p.m. April 1 at the Portage Lupus office, 2642 Eleanor St. An Ask the Doctor session with Dr. Tarek Kudaimi begins at 6 p.m. The Tell 20 campaign in honor of the chapter's 20th anniversary urges people to distribute lupus information to 20 friends by e-mail, phone, mail, or literature.

HEALTH FAIR | Hammond
The Wellness Center at Purdue University Calumet hosts its annual spring health fair from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 2 and 3 in the Student Union Library building at the university, 2200 169th St. Various vendors will provide free screenings such as vision, blood pressure and posture. Admission is free for all.

MYTHS AND FACTS | Hebron
C.H.O.I.C.E.S. natural birth and parenting network holds free monthly community meetings with preplanned topics at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the Hebron Community Center, 611 N. Main St. The April 2 topic is "The Myths and Facts About Pregnancy, Birth & Babies." No registration is required and all are invited. Nursing infants are welcome, but please be considerate of others by making other arrangements for toddlers and older children who may disrupt the program.

NEW LOCATION | St. John
Saint Anthony - St. John has a new location, a 17,000-square-foot health center at 10860 Maple Lane (Parrish Street and Ind. 231) that offers patients a full spectrum of services from diagnostic imaging (radiology, CT, ultrasound and lab) to the services of specially trained Franciscan Physician Network physicians Rishi Sud, M.D. an expert in family medicine, and Jennifer Murphy, M.D. F.A.C.O.G., specially trained in obstetrics and gynecology. A public open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. April 13 with free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, pulmonary function testing and bone density. There will be raffle prizes, including a hotel package, two full body massages and a sports mountain bike, as ell as refreshments, giveaways and more.
