CROWN POINT | Jamie Rodriguez has no memories of a recent family vacation and can't even recall her Sweet 16 birthday party on Dec. 31, her dad Primo Rodriguez testified Tuesday.

"She's not the Jamie we used to know," said Rodriguez, his voice cracking and his tears falling.

Rodriguez, a Gary police officer, was one of several witnesses who testified during a Lake County Juvenile Court hearing for Brittney McCammon. Prosecutors are asking that the teen be waived to adult court, Lake County prosecutor's office spokeswoman Diane Poulton said.

McCammon, 15, of Hobart, has been charged with attempted murder and felony battery in connection to the June 4 beating of Jamie Rodriguez outside Lake George Shrimp in downtown Hobart.

Rodriguez's injuries were so severe she had to be airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.

Lake County Juvenile Court Magistrate Glenn Commons, after hearing all testimony, agreed to take all evidence under advisement before ruling at a later date.

He ordered McCammon, who sat quietly next to her attorney during the hearing, to remain at the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center until a decision is made.

Lake County Juvenile Probation Officer Monica Nagy, a 13-year veteran, said she's spoken to McCammon on numerous occasions and believes she would be better served by remaining in the juvenile court system where she could get treatment.

Ronald Ruff, a clinical psychologist with the county, diagnosed McCammon with what he termed intermittent explosive disorder, in which an individual can react to situations with rage.

When Deputy Prosecutor Georgia Zingo Enzer asked him if McCammon was remorseful about what she had done to Rodriguez, Ruff answered: "Remorseful? I wasn't able to determine that."
