MERRILLVILLE: Suspect, 3 others flee scene without money
MERRILLVILLE | A 33-year-old Gary man told police he escaped unharmed Sunday morning after someone tried to rob him at gunpoint in a Pepe's parking lot.
The man told police someone in a black Chevrolet Trailblazer pulled up next to him, pointed a gun at him and demanded money, police reports say.
Instead of giving him money, the man said he didn't have any and fled on foot back into Pepe's, 100 W. 61st Ave., police said.
The suspect, who was described as being in his late 20s, drove away from the scene with three companions, police reports say.
The incident was reported to police at 12:42 a.m.
