SummerFest | Calumet City

St. Andrew the Apostle Parish will hold its annual SummerFest today and June 24 on the church grounds, 768 Lincoln Ave. Today's activities run from 6 to 11 p.m. with music provided by Acme Musical DJ. A live pro-wrestling event is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Festivities will resume at 3 p.m. Sunday and continue until 10 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy St. Andrew's traditional polka entertainment. Two new polka bands will take the music stage this year. From 3 to 6 p.m. will be All Mixed Up. New Phaze performs from 7 to 10 p.m.

Food items will be available for purchase. Activities and games for kids and adults will take place both days.

STAMPS, POSTCARDS | Highland

The Calumet Area Stamp, Coin, Postcard Show is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24 at Lincoln Center, 2450 Lincoln St. Buying, trading and selling will take place. Admission is $1.

MOMS Club | Lansing

The MOMS Club of Lansing always welcomes new members. The group supports moms of all ages through various activities for their families. Some of the events of the MOMS club of Lansing include park days, play dates, Mom's Night Out, picnics and holiday parties.

Purls of Wisdom | Lansing

Lansing Public Library hosts a knitting and crochet circle from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 27 at the library, 2750 Indiana Ave. Get together with others who share this hobby. Register for this free program.

Computer Society | Chicago Heights

South Suburban Chapter of the Chicago Computer Society meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday in the auditorium of Prairie State College. Each week a different topic is presented along with an open forum to answer questions. The meetings are free and open to the public.

Kiwanis Golden K Club | Lansing

Kiwanis Golden K Club meets at 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Eisenhower Center. Retirees age 55 and older are welcome. The group holds fund-raisers to help local students and organizations. The club contributes to three high schools, Camp Quality for children with cancer, Twin Lakes Camp for children with handicaps, purchases books for kindergarteners, Key Club at Thornton Fractional South and more. Some group activities include sending gift packs to veterans, reading to students, collecting for the Salvation Army and more.

Lynwood Lions Club always welcomes new members. The club is a nonprofit organization that serves the community.

Radio control club | Lansing

The Thorn Creek Radio Control Club meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the Lansing VFW Hall, on Ridge Road just east of Torrence Avenue. The group is dedicated to advancing model aviation and builds and flies model airplanes. Visitors and news members are always welcome to attend any meeting and should bring their planes.

South Suburban Cage Bird Association meets at 2 p.m. every second Sunday of the month at the Calvin Reform Church, 2895 Glenwood Lansing Road.

Habitat for Humanity | Chicago Heights

Habitat for Humanities Chicago Heights branch was founded in 1988, serving the entire south suburbs of Chicago. The group aims to move families out of poverty by making them homeowners. Volunteers are needed for home construction and rehab projects.

Adopt | Chicago Heights

South Suburban Humane Society is in desperate need of loving and responsible homes for its animals. Adoptable companion animals include dogs, cats, puppies and kittens, as well as rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs. The shelter is at 1103 W. End Ave.
