buy this photo PHOTO COURTESY OF JACK PRUZIN The 27th annual  Easter Sunrise Service will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Living Hope Church, 9000 Taft St. in Merrillville. This community service is conducted by an ecumenical group of clergy who would like everyone to participate in the Feast of Easter - The Resurrection of the Lord.  It is also a way of reaching out to those who do not have a church in order for them to celebrate Easter.  The one-hour service offers scripture, prayer and song with a message to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Committee members planning the service are, front row from left to right, the Rev. GOOD FRIDAY | Gary

Good Friday services will be held at noon March 21 at Bethel Church of God in Christ, 43rd & Washington Street, with Overseer Norman Hairston II as the featured speaker. The Interfaith Clergy Council will also present two special donations to local service agencies to support their efforts, $600 to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Northwest Indiana and the Corinthian Christian Center, which offers care to the elderly who would otherwise be forgotten.

EASTER WEEKEND | Lowell

Lowell Church of the Nazarene and Anchor of Life Ministries presents an Easter Weekend Celebration at the church, 18210 Clark Road. Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. March 21 will feature guest speaker Billy Huddlston, Nazarene evangelist and vocalist. Special guest speaker at 6:30 p.m. service March 22 is the Rev. Kerry Robinson, pastor. Two presentations of the Easter musical "The Power of the Cross" will be given by the Nazarene Church Choir at 9:30 and 11 a.m. March 23, while the 6:30 p.m. service will feature gust speaker Jesse Stoner, pastor of Portage Christian Church. PASSION PLAY | Munster

The Passion Play "Jesus of Nazareth" will be presented for the 20th season at 7:30 p.m. March 21 and at noon and 3 p.m. Saturdays through April 5 at Family Christian Center, 340 W. 45th St. Written by Senior Pastor Steve Munsey, the play is an energetic account of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on a 125-foot wide stage. Tickets may be purchased in person, online or by phone from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Easter Sunday Worship Services will be held at 9 a.m. March 23 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5402 U.S. 6, An Easter Egg Hunt will be held following the service for children preschool thru grade 6.

EASTER SERVICES | Munster

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ will be celebrated at five Easter services at Family Christian Center, 340 W. 45th St. New is a one-hour Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. featuring the FCC Sanctuary Choir and Band and the burning of thousands of prayer cards nailed to the cross during the past several weeks. Other Easter services will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 22 and at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. March 23. Also, the FCC Music Department will be featured at 6:30 p.m. services March 23 at City Church, 777 N. Green St., Chicago.

EASTER MUSICAL | East Chicago

New Life Outreach COGIC will host a musical at 7:30 p.m. March 23 at 4756 McCook Ave. The children will have an Easter parade and give speeches. Praise dancers and the choir will be featured.

EASTER EVENTS | Lowell

Holy Week and Easter events have been scheduled at the First United Methodist Church, 520 E. Commercial Ave. A potluck meal will be shared at 6 p.m. today in the fellowship hall, followed by "The Living Last Supper" at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Holy Saturday Easter Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. March 22. Traditional Easter services are at 8 and 9:15 a.m. March 23, with a contemporary service at 10:30 a.m.

WORSHIP SERVICES | Crown Point

Worship services for Holy Week and Easter have been announced at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Ave. Maundy Thursday Worship will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. today with communion at both services. The message is based on Matthew 27:3-10, "Remorseful Tears: Jesus' Betrayer Ends His Life." Good Friday Worship will be held at 2 p.m. March 21and the message is "The Way of Tears: Jerusalem Women Mourn the Savior" from Luke 23:26-31. Tenebrae will be held on Good Friday evening at 7 p.m. Easter Saturday Vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 22 with communion. Easter Sunday Festival Worship will be at 6:30, 9 and 10:45 a.m. March 23 with communion at all services. The message will be from John 20:11-18, "Tears of Sorrow, Tears of Joy: The Risen Jesus Greets a Weeping Friend." Easter Sunday breakfast is at 8 a.m.

First Baptist Church presents its annual Easter drama, "Christ in the Concrete City: The Birth of the Last Supper," by the Rev. Kenneth Gray Sr. The production is at 6 p.m. March 21 at 626 W. 21st Ave. and includes the drama team, praise dancers and singers.

"A Voice In The Crowd" is the title of Good Friday services at 7 and 9 p.m. March 21 at Community Bible Church, 13620 U.S. 41. This dramatic representation offers a vivid reminder of Christ's sacrifice. Communion and a time of worship are included. Easter Sunday services are at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. March 23.
