PARK FOREST | Thorn Creek Nature Center will present its annual Fossil Fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, with Sam Maselli and members of the South Suburban Earth Science Club. See rare fossils and learn their ancient history, get pointers from the pros on identifying and collecting fossils, and make fossil prints. This event is open to all ages and costs $3.

The Fossil Fair will show three collections of fossils - the nature center's, samples from Sam Maselli's collection, and some of Robert Beadle's fossils.

Maselli has been interested in rocks and fossils for 65 years. He is a past editor of the South Suburban Earth Science Club's newsletter and has written many articles on fossils.

Beadle has a broad knowledge of Mazon Creek fossils. He has gone on field trips and attended lectures given by authors of the most up-to-date books on the subject. He is a member of several area earth science clubs and has recently been president of the Chicago Rocks and Mineral Society. As a long-standing member of the South Suburban Earth Science Club, he has volunteered to take part in this presentation.

Thorn Creek Nature Center is at 247 Monee Road. For more information, call (708) 747-6320 during business hours.
