CROWN POINT | The last of seven Gary residents convicted in the beating and stabbing death of a Detroit man could spend 10 years in prison.
Mitchell Armstrong, 20, pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the December 2004 beating death of Andre Paige, according to a news release from the Lake County prosecutor's office.
Six other Gary residents have been convicted on charges ranging from murder to assisting a criminal.
Paige was found lying face down in a march near U.S. 12 and South Union Street. He was beaten and stabbed before his body was discarded in the marsh.
