CENTER TOWNSHIP | A Center Township man died Tuesday in a garage fire he apparently set, Crown Point Fire Department Division Chief John Gettler said.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, the city Fire Department and Lake County police responded to a blaze in the 200 block of Oak Street in Liberty Park subdivision, officials with those agencies said.

After the fire was extinguished, a body was found in the middle of the garage floor, Lake County police reported.

Gettler said the man died in a set fire in conjunction with a suicide. The Lake County coroner's office will do an autopsy on the body today, a spokeswoman for the office said Wednesday.
