After an unusually cold and wet spring, Memorial Day weekend arrived in the Region on Saturday with sunny skies and warming temperatures for the unofficial start of summer. And the forecast calls for enjoyable conditions for most of the holiday weekend.
Those attending Sunday afternoon's Indianapolis 500 race should enjoy mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s, a few degrees warmer than expected in Northwest Indiana. Only a very slim chance of rain exists during the day Sunday anywhere in Indiana.
Rain is forecast for Monday, but the heaviest storms are expected overnight and should move out of Northwest Indiana well before high school sectional baseball games begin at 10 a.m. at most locations. There is a chance for a few scattered showers thereafter, but most of the daytime hours Monday in the Region should be dry.
